Snug Harbor is located on Nelson Bay in Sea Level, North Carolina. The peaceful setting is 30 miles east of the Beaufort/Morehead City area. Carteret County, also known as the Crystal Coast, is located at the most southern tip of the Outer Banks. Beautiful beaches and excellent fishing are just two of the most popular attractions. Charter fishing boats are plentiful along the Morehead City and Beaufort waterfronts, and public and private ferries are available for trips to the Outer Banks. The Outer Banks are famous for their lighthouses that still warn ship captains of North Carolina’s jagged coastline that came to be known as the “Graveyard of the Atlantic” during the days of piracy.
In Beaufort—North Carolina’s third oldest town—the Historical Association and North Carolina Maritime Museum offer various activities. The Carteret Community College and senior citizen enrichment center in Morehead City offer a vast array of classes and events. The area is also home to five golf courses.
